Social media is overrun with #RelationshipGoals posts and ambitious girls posting pictures of their #DreamBae. But when you’re a girl boss, there’s a misconception that having a significant other may distract you from your goals and you may not be focused enough to get to where you want to be. The truth is, you can have your Barack if you choose another ambitious partner that understands the journey to success.

Here are 5 benefits of an ambitious partner:

1. The journey to success doesn’t have to be lonely

Having someone to share the journey with makes it more worthwhile. If you have a bad day at work or in your business, it’s great to vent to your partner. Or, if you just killed a presentation and your professional life is going great, bae is there to celebrate your personal victory! It’s so much more rewarding to share special moments with someone you love.

2. He or she understands that you may go hours without speaking

Someone who attends meetings and travels as much you do is much more understanding of your busy schedule. Ambitious partners understand that you don’t have to talk every minute of the day to have a strong relationship. Now this doesn’t mean go ghost, but having a significant other who is a go-getter does eliminate a lot of the unnecessary “Where are you?” drama.

3. Accountability partner

Once you may share your deepest dreams with your other half, your partner can hold you accountable for achieving them. It’s beautiful to keep each other motivated towards the next goal, especially if you ever lose focus of their purpose.

4. It’s not a burden

Have you ever been in any friendship or relationship where you are constantly trying to motivate someone to do better? When you reach a certain point in your life, you can no longer cape for them. It gets tiring trying to carry everyone to the level you are at, but when you date another goal-minded individual, although you may have differences, you both are gunning toward success.

5. You complement each other

Finally, one of the best benefits of having an ambitious partner is that you complement each other. For instance, if you’re not great at making business plans but your boo is a master at it, it’s a win-win! And shouldn’t your partner strengthen your weakness? If you thought that having a partner would stop you from achieving your goals, think again!
